Evaluation
Daniel Davison

I have developed many skills whilst making my sweded marketing campaign. One of the skills I have learnt is to work together with a team to make the swede. One example of this is before we went into making our swede we had to put all of our ideas down on paper. To do this we had to work as a team and make sure that a bit of everybody’s ideas into the making of the swede.  This is a good skill to have when making anything like this because everybody’s ideas will be different and by listing to each others you are enabling you self to make a better production.                                                                                                                               Another skill that I have developed is house to edit on a mac computer. For example at the end of filming out swede we had to put it all together and edit it; making clips shorter, adding music and add effects.  This skill is a must needed skill when it comes to making a production because with out this you are not able to put all the clips together and have a finished production.                            Another skill that I have developed is composing a shot. Whiles making the swede we had to make sure that the camera was at the right angle was at the right zoom and set up so that we had the right amount of background in. When making a production like this it is a skill you will need because without it the swede would not look as well filmed because if you have the camera at the wrong place when you are filming you may miss the mane part of the scene.
A skill I learnt right through out the process of making of my swede was performance and building up the confidence to do get up in font of the camera. My main example of this is a shot were we all got up and did a dance to the song. To make the swede look the best we could this is what we had to do.                           I have learnt a lot about digital technologies such as the Internet.  Facebook and Twitter are great ways to market you band because there is millions of people who use these social networking sites every day. More people would see the band on a social networking site than on a poster put on the side of a bus stand.  This is why it is a great idea to market your band on the Internet.  For example YouTube, artists and bands add there music for people to listen to for free for the hope that they like the music and buy the song to download on the there iPod.  This is all done though Vevo on YouTube.  Vevo allows artists to put there music onto there site were it is safe and can not be downloaded illegally.
Another digital technology that is good for the band or artist to use it editing software like ‘final cut express’. This is good to a band to produce and manage there own music because with editing software’s like this is can make them look the best of the bust if they do it right. People are not just attracted to the music that a band makes but they are also attracted to the music video and this is why digital technologies like this can help a band sell music and become popular.
Online distribution is from my point of a view one of the main ways to sell you music and market it. ITunes, without iTunes people would have to go to a shop and buy the music but this does not happen anymore. People are not able to pick and choose what music they like of an album and only buy them songs and this is why it people choose to do this then to go and buy the whole album from the shop.                                                                                                                                  YouTube is not just a way for artists to let everybody here they music but is it also there way to build up a fan base. What a lot of artist do it they do vloging on the Internet so that they fans can get to know them.  For example the ‘Lucy Spragan’ song ‘Lighthouse’. There are two videos on her Vevo and one of them is the actual music video and one of them is the making of the music video. I think that when an artist does this it help build up a fan base as is connects the audience with the artist as the artist allows them to see how it all happened.                A disadvantage of marketing and showing music videos on the Internet is that people can convert the music and download it for free. This has been something that has been going on in the music industry for a long time and this is why artist are losing money to illegally downloading music on the Internet.                 Convergence is combining two or more technologies.  For example artists can now use their phone to record and edit there own music videos to add the Internet.

Walk The Moon
  • Walk the moon uses the typical methods of advertising using social networking websites. They use Facebook, Twitter and Youtube to upload videos, pictures and keep people up to date with concerts and what they are working on. This is good because it keep the fans in contact with the band and also opens them up to new audiences.
  • Walk the moon also used posters to advertise where they were going to preform. This enabled them to get there name out to a wide audience if they were to put them up around towns and city's. They also sell tickets to there concerts on there website. http://walkthemoonband.com/main/
  • Walk to moon sell merchandise on there website such as jumpers, t-shirts and vests.

Conclusion
I think that the internet has a very big impacted on promotion, if it was not for the internet people would not be able to sell there songs. Using the internet is very good way to reach audiences from over seas. For example 'Walk the moon' are from America and I would not of known about them if it was not for youtube. If the internet was not there I would of not known who they are and all I would be able to get of them a CD in the shops witch is something I would be unlikely to by because I would of never herd of them before. There is a big difference between main stream and independent music and the main thing is one has money to advertise and one doesn't. Independent music tent to stick to the cheap things like; posters social network-sites. As main steam music can afford to have adds on the television and top of the range websites were people can go on by merch and tickets for there shows.

Sweded
The word sweded came from Sweden when somebody erased all the movies at the movie store so they created there own and thats were the word Sweded came from. Many versions of star wars sweded can be found on the web. Also there are sweded versions of Jurassic Park and Forest Gump. Some are made for funny reasons to make the viewer laugh and some are made to look like a actual remake of the video.
Here are a couple of examples.

Micro Elements for Analysis and Understanding Media Language

Cinematography is how the scene is shot. It could do with what type of shot it is for example a close up or a long shot. It could have to do with the angle of the camera for example a high angle or a low angle. Movement is important to do with Cinematography because it help show how the character is moving for example with they were running you would like to use a panning shot. Also composition is used for things like framing. Cinematography is very important because it can set a scene for you for example if on a horror movie something was about to happen you could build up the tension by using a close up shot of maybe somebody sweating or even just the eyes unable to move.

Editing is important because it is used to make the video. Editing uses many features such as cutting and other transitions. Cutting can be used to make a scene more romantic by cutting from one character to another or even to make a scene more scary but doing fast cutting from maybe the character and a door handle that is about to open. Transitions can also be used to make a scene more romantic by using slow motion you can have the two character running into each others arms.

Sound can be used so that the character can here it or out of the scene. This is called diegetic and non-diegetic sound. Sound effects can be used but they will be non-diegetic and this means the character is not able to here them. If a character was listing to there ipod and you could here is this is diegetic it is happening in the scene.

Mise-en-Scene is pretty much ever thing you see in the scene. The location, costumes and make up. This is very important because this is the thing that sets the scene. Also the lighting is important because that also sets a scene for example you would use dark lighting in a horror movie and light lighting in a romantic movie. The location sets to scene as it shows the viewer what they are in for. For example you would use a hunted house for a horror movie and a flower garden for a romantic movie.

  • Media language is how is how the story is told and how it comes across to the audience.
  • Verbal communication is gestures, facial expressions, clothing and props.
  • It is also were about the character is placed in the frame.
  • ML is also every thing that the camera sees.
  • Denoation is every thing that you literally see in a scene.
  • Cannotation is your interpretation of the scene.

Representation

Representation is a single image or a sequence of images or even a whole programme. Is shows how people are represented. The media represents not presents. Representation shows stereotypical views of people, for example men are stereotypes as strong, independent, active and hard as women are stereotypes as graceful, soft and sensitive.
Stereotyping allows the viewer to understand and identify with the character and meaning of text. A srereotype sets a story for a person so that you can automaticly know some back ground infomation.
